A Fall Family Bucket List

There are many ways to enjoy the cooler season with your family, some you may not even think of. It is full of so much beautiful foliage and because the roads are less busy, it’s a great time to pack in a weekend road trip somewhere fun. Here are some “outside the box” ideas to try with your family.

Go Camping

All you maybe need is an extra blanket or two! The fall isn’t the most popular season to go camping, but that’s what can make it so much more enjoyable. There are less people and less bugs! The scenery is beautiful, the leaves crunch under your feet and a bonfire at night is that much cozier. Make sure you’re prepared with a tarp or two just in case it rains and bring some extra layers.

Bake

On a particularly cool day, find your favourite fall recipes and have a baking day. You can share your fresh baked goods with family, friends and the neighbours. Baking introduces life skills to children, and it tastes delicious! Have some fun with it and bake some mini apple pies.

Visit an Orchard

It’s always nice to get outside in the fall and breath in that crisp autumn air. There are several apple orchards within a short drive. Many orchards have much more to do then just pick apples so you can probably make a day out of it with hayrides and corn mazes. Bring a camera along too – the backdrop of an apple orchard makes for some great family photos and memories.

Get Reading

Time spent indoors on a cool day is a great opportunity to practice reading skills. Maybe read a book that you haven’t read yet, visit the library to pick out new books or take this chance to start a chapter book. Get cozy and spend some quality time together.
